Sectigo logo On 1st November 2018, Comodo CA announced the rebranding to Sectigo. The current changes affecting only naming and no changes to products or prices. However, there is one positive change, Sectigo decided to allow Yellow Pages resources for phone verification, that is a good move to help people around the world to get OV/EV certificates easier. GeoTrust logoStarting at 1st June 2018 GeoTrust would discontinue selling GeoTrust Web Site Anti-Malware Scan. Please start removing that product from your websites. The alternative is Symantec Safe Site.

No more 3-yr SSL

No 3yrStarting at 1st March 2018 there will be no more 3-year SSL certificates according to CA/B forum decision. The max period will be 27 months during renewal. The changes affect all global CA (vendors). The changes do not affect CodeSigning or S/MIME certificates

DigiCert acquired Symantec CA

DigiCert logoOn October 31, 2017, DigiCert, Inc. acquired Symantec Corporation the business of providing and supporting Symantec’s Website Security and PKI products and services. All CAs like Thawte, Symantec, RapidSSL and GeoTrust will be using DigiCert infrastructure starting at 1st DEC 2017. That was done to prevent any conflicts with Google.
